Not currently attending Mesquite ISD but interested in becoming a Vanguard?

Mesquite ISD’s Vanguard Admission Policy for Non-MISD Attending Students

Eligibility: 8th graders who live in Mesquite ISD boundaries but are not currently attending a MISD school or 8th graders that do not live in Mesquite ISD but have a parent or guardian working for the district.

If you meet one of the categories above and would like to be considered for Vanguard admission. Please follow the steps below to be included admission selection:

  • Complete this 2024-25 Vanguard Interest Form by 11:59 PM on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2023
  • Once the form is completed, the parent/guardian must submit the student’s report card, complete attendance record (with tardies noted), and discipline record (even if blank) from the first semester (Fall 2023) to Clarissa Jayroe via email at cjayroe@mesquiteisd.org. This information bust be submitted no later than Friday, Jan.19, at 4 PM.
  • The information listed above will be reviewed during the same selection process as MISD students.
  • The parent/guardian and student will be notified in February of their status.
  • At that time, students will need to respond with either “accept” or “decline”
    • Program Accept: Student is committed to attending Vanguard for all 4-years as a full time student.
    • Program Decline: Student is choosing not to attend Vanguard and his/her spot will be given away.
    • Waitlist Accept - Student would still like to be considered for Vanguard admission if spots become available.
    • Waitlist Decline - Student no longer wants to be considered for Vanguard admission.
